Privacy Policy for Copile Chrome Extension

This Privacy Policy describes how the Copile Chrome extension ("Copile Extension", "we", "us") handles information when you use the extension to save web content into the Copile desktop app.

1. What Data the Extension Handles

When you trigger a capture, the extension may access and process:

• Current page URL.
• Rendered page HTML snapshot.
• User-highlighted text/HTML selection (for selection capture).
• Visible image URL hints found on the page.
• Basic capture metadata (timestamp, extension version, browser user agent, tab/window identifiers).

2. How the Data Is Used

The extension uses this data only to perform your requested "Save to Copile" action and send the capture payload to the local native messaging host com.lakiinbor.copile, which forwards it to the Copile desktop app on your machine.

3. Data Sharing

• The extension does not sell personal information.
• The extension does not use captured data for advertising.
• The extension does not send capture payloads directly to third-party analytics or ad networks.
• Captured content is delivered to your local Copile desktop app. Any additional sync/export behavior depends on your Copile app configuration and actions.

4. Local Storage

The extension stores a small local status record in Chrome storage (Copile:lastCapture) to show the latest save success/failure state in the popup UI.

5. Permissions We Request

• tabs: identify and operate on the active tab for capture.
• scripting: run capture/toast scripts on the active page when needed.
• storage: persist the latest capture status.
• nativeMessaging: communicate with the local Copile native host.
• <all_urls> (optional host permission): allow capture from sites you choose to save.

6. Remote Code

The extension does not execute remote code. Executable extension code is packaged in the extension bundle distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

7. Data Retention and Control

• You can remove extension local data via Chrome extension storage controls.
• You can uninstall the extension at any time from Chrome.
• You can manage or delete captured content from within Copile desktop app workflows.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
